About 100 people have been evacuated from a building in Sydney’s south-west, after a suspicious fire in a restaurant on the ground floor.

Emergency services were called to 'Rashay’s' restaurant on West Terrace in Bankstown, just after 3am this morning.

Nearby residents were evacuated from the building before crews brought the fire under control.

No serious injuries were reported, although one person was taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

It is believed to be the same building where 21-year-old Connie Zhang leapt to her death when a fire broke out in her fifth-storey apartment in 2012.

Officers from the Bankstown LAC are investigating the cause of the blaze.
