'Scream and I will kill you': NSW rapist

When Richard Crowe grabbed girls off Sydney's streets and sexually abused them in derelict buildings and storm drains across the city, he often issued a single threat.

"Scream and I will kill you."

Crowe has pleaded guilty to a raft of charges, after he admitted he kidnapped and sexually assaulted five girls, aged nine to 17, over almost two years between 1989 and 1991.

Court documents obtained by AAP on Wednesday reveal that all the crimes followed a similar pattern.

Crowe, 45, would grab an unknown girl, pull her into either derelict buildings or storm water drains across Sydney and sexually assault her.

He would issue threats - either with a knife or verbally - before running away.

His first victim - a nine-year-old girl - was walking to attend Sunday school in August 1989 near her Bankstown home in the city's southwest when Crowe came up behind her and put his hand over her mouth.

He dragged her into a nearby derelict home's backyard, saying words to the effect of, "if you scream, I'll kill you".

After forcing himself on her, he ran away.

A year later, another of Crowe's victims, this time a 10-year-old was walking through a park at Punchbowl to find her brother when Crowe grabbed her and pulled her into an empty storm-water canal.

When she started screaming he told her if she did it again he would kill her.

At some stage during the forced sexual intercourse that followed, he also hit her with a rock on her legs, facts state.

For more than a decade, Crowe's crimes against the girls remained unpunished.

It wasn't until the Cold Case Justice Project (CCJP) linked Crowe to the cases through DNA that he was finally arrested and charged in August last year.

He has pleaded guilty to numerous offences, including five counts of kidnapping, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Crowe, who faced a sentencing hearing this month, says he doesn't remember anything about the attacks but pleaded guilty on the basis of the DNA evidence.

He is set to be sentenced next month.
