Sydney police shooting victim farewelled
A young woman shot dead in a confrontation with police has been farewelled at an emotional ceremony in Sydney's west.
Courtney Topic was carrying a large kitchen knife when she moved towards police outside Hungry Jack's at West Hoxton on February 10.
Police used capsicum spray and tried to use a taser before a constable fired a shot at the 22-year-old's chest.
Friends and family farewelled Ms Topic, who reportedly had Asperger's syndrome, at a funeral at John the Baptist Catholic Church at Bonnyrigg on Thursday.
Her siblings, Kristopher, Zachary and Brodie, delivered a eulogy in front of Ms Topic's flower-topped white coffin.
Her family recently released their favourite photo of Ms Topic, who would have celebrated her 23rd birthday next week, and thanked people for their overwhelming support.
A critical incident team, led by the NSW Homicide Squad, is investigating the shooting.
