A Sydney man has faced court accused of repeatedly exposing himself to other rail commuters during an hour-long journey between the CBD and the city's west.

Michael Clint Strudwick is also alleged to have performed a series of indecent acts in front of both male and female passengers, some of whom were elderly and others apparently 12 years old or younger.

Police say a number of the offences occurred between 9.11pm and 10.21pm on Sunday, January 8, with the journey including stops at Marrickville and Hurlstone Park.

The 43-year-old was apprehended by officers from the Transport Action Group on Friday and taken to the city's Day Street Police Station where he was charged.

Strudwick made no application for bail at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday and is scheduled to reappear in court on Tuesday, January 31.
