Sydney man charged for historical assault

A 70-year-old man is set to face court for allegedly sexually assaulting at least four young girls in Sydney's north in the 1980s and early 1990s.

The man was arrested at a unit in Dee Why on Sydney's Northern Beaches on Friday morning and charged with aggravated indecency and multiple sexual assault charges committed on persons under 16 years.

The offences allegedly occurred in Frenchs Forest against at least four girls, aged between eight and 14 years.

The man has been given strict bail conditions and will appear at Manly Local Court on October 8.
