Sydney man bashed during robbery: police

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was allegedly bashed during a robbery in Sydney's west.

The 33-year-old was set upon by a group of three men while walking along Taylor St, Lakemba late on Tuesday night, police say.

Officers were told the men assaulted the man before running off with some cash.

The injured man was taken to the Trauma Unit at Liverpool Hospital with fractures to his head and possible back injuries.
