Sydney man arrested over child porn

A man has been charged over alleged child porn found on his phone after going to police in Sydney's east over a separate matter.

Police say they had reason to seize the 47-year-old's phone after he attended Maroubra Police Station over an unrelated matter on Monday morning.

After allegedly finding child abuse material on the phone they later arrested him at a home in Malabar.

He was charged with possessing child abuse material and refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday.
