Sydney man admits murdering estranged wife

A western Sydney man has admitted murdering his estranged wife more than a year after her body was found in an underground car park.

Police found 26-year-old Leila Alavi's body inside a vehicle at a shopping centre on Harrow Road, Auburn, in January last year.

She had taken out an apprehended domestic violence order against her husband Mokhtar Hosseiniamraei, now 34, before her death.

At the time, police alleged Hosseiniamraei had stabbed her to death with a pair of scissors after confronting her at her workplace.

The Guildford West man last week pleaded guilty to murder and to a charge of contravening an AVO.

Hosseiniamraei, who remains in custody, is expected to face sentencing proceedings in the Supreme Court next month.
