Sydney learner motorcyclist cops big fine

An 18-year-old learner motorcyclist has been issued 10 demerit points and copped an $855 fine for travelling 30km/h over the speed limit.
The teenager was clocked driving at more than 80km/h in a 50km/h zone on Friday evening in Elderslie, near Camden in Sydney's west.
His licence has also been confiscated and suspended for three months.

Police are reminding drivers that double demerits apply over the October long weekend until Monday night.
