Sydney cabbie assaulted by group of men

A 60-year-old taxi driver has been bashed in the face and robbed in southwest Sydney.

The cabbie picked up two young women in Campbelltown just after 11.30pm on Tuesday when a group of men, believed to be known to the women, approached the taxi.

They stole the driver's wallet and mobile phone before assaulting him. The men ran off into a nearby reserve.

The cabbie was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for minor facial injuries.
