Mother who allegedly hit and killed Sydney cyclist thought she'd driven over metal

A Sydney mother accused of a hit and run that killed a cyclist at Lidcombe, claims she thought she'd hit metal.

The 47-year-old woman was released on bail, even though police allege she reversed back over the bike rider, before leaving the scene.

Vonny Ho told 9News she thought she hit a piece of metal, and replied she ‘saw nothing’ when asked.

She was arrested after attending Auburn Police Station yesterday, three days after police allege she ran over and killed, Raymond Rawiri, 66.

Police allege she purposely reversed back over the cyclist before taking off after the crash at an intersection in Lidcombe on Tuesday.

Mrs Ho's husband, Effendy Chang says she became aware of the investigation when she watched a TV news report.

"So we watched it on Thursday and then my daughter says ‘oh mum that looks like you’, and then so the following morning we approached the lawyer,” he told 9News.

"You can see her speed, check the CCTV, she's not like ‘oh I have to run because I did something wrong.”

Mrs Ho was granted bail on three charges including dangerous driving causing death, but has had to provide $10,000 in surety and will have report to police twice a week as part of her bail conditions.

Police released security vision in an effort to track down the driver.
