Swimmers at Bondi Beach ordered out of water after shark sighting

Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach has been evacuated for the second time in three days after a reported shark sighting.

Swimmers were ordered from the water around 3pm (AEDT) and a shark alarm was triggered.

The beach has now reopened. 

Lifeguards patrolled the area on jetskis and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter hovered low over a school of fish a short distance from the shore. 

Bondi Lifeguards reported on social media a patroller on a jetski had spotted the shark among the fish.

It comes after a police helicopter sighted a large bull shark offshore on Friday.

In November last year, two great whites were pulled from nearby nets in separate incidents in the same month.
