Suspicious fire damages Sydney unit block

A southern Sydney unit block has been seriously damaged in a suspicious fire.

Thirty residents were evacuated from the 13-unit block in Ramsgate early this morning after the basement car park was set alight.

One car was destroyed, another damaged and the building's water and sewerage systems were significantly damaged.

Fire investigators are still working to make sure the building is safe to enter and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
