A Sydney woman has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a house caught fire.

It's believed the fire started on a stove in the kitchen of an Ingleburn home.

Firefighters who arrived about 1.30am on Saturday, managed to put out the fire in the rear of the home.

A passer-by helped the 52-year-old woman escape the fire and she was treated at Liverpool Hospital for smoke inhalation. A dog died in the fire.
