Storms to affect some Anzac Day services

While the storm of a decade is likely to affect some services, NSW RSL state president Rod White expects most people will still be able to attend Anzac Day commemorations.

Most of the Anzac services are conducted around local war memorials or cenotaphs, so commemorations should go ahead as long as those places are not affected by fallen trees or floodwater.

"Generally speaking, across Sydney and the regional areas, we're expecting most people to be able to get access to their local war memorials," Mr White said.

"Hopefully the weather will clear as the week goes on.

"But if it is continuing disastrous weather, it's certainly going to curtail many of the activities."

He said services might need to be shortened or, in some cases, the traditional march of the veterans to the memorials cancelled.

In Sydney, one of the areas of concern is the northern beaches suburb of Manly, where the war memorial at Manly Dam was almost completely underwater on Wednesday morning.
