Stocco victim's children confront killers in court

The children of NSW murder victim Rosario Cimone have confronted his killers in court, describing in heart-wrenching detail their pain at their father's brutal murder.

Flanked by her two siblings, Mr Cimone's daughter, Maria, told the NSW Supreme Court through tears how the family was tormented by questions as to whether their father had suffered at the hands of the Stoccos.

Fugitives Gino Stocco, 69, and his 36-year-old son Mark first appeared in Dubbo Court in June, pleading guilty to one count each of murder and destroying property by fire.

Mr Cimone's son, Phillip, told the Stoccos, who sat side by side in the courtoom dock, that "the pain will never be forgotten ... remember that."

The father and son pair who sparked a major manhunt and were on the run from police for eight years.

The pair were wanted by police until they were caught in a dramatic arrest at a property in Pinevale, near Dubbo in October last year.

Soon after the arrest, police found the body of the property's Italian-born caretaker, 68-year-old Mr Cimone, in a shallow grave.

The caretaker was connected to cannabis cultivation and organised crime.

The pair had been at large for eight years, wanted over alleged property offences in Queensland.

After they allegedly fired at police in October 2015 in Wagga Wagga, officers ramped up efforts to find the fugitives with the manhunt spanning several weeks across parts of Victoria and NSW.
