Stamp duty proceeds from Sydney's booming property market have hit a record high, according to reports.

Figures reported by Fairfax say state coffers benefited from $1.98 billion in stamp duty between January and March, up $315 million from the first quarter last year.

Stamp duty revenue so far this financial year has increased by $859 million, up 10 per cent from the same period in 2015-16.
