Slain bikie boss's sperm case in court

Sperm extracted from the body of murdered former bikie boss Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi is being stored at an IVF facility until a court rules on his widow's pending application to use it, a Sydney judge has been told.

The former Comanchero Motorcycle Club president was gunned down outside a Rockdale gym in Sydney's south on February 15. No one has been arrested over the crime.

A urologist was authorised to perform a "posthumous sperm retrieval" after Hawi's wife Carolina Gonzales made an urgent application in the NSW Supreme Court the day after he was killed.

In a directions hearing on Monday, Justice Peter Johnson was told the sample had been obtained, was being stored at an IVF facility and had not been used.

Ms Gonzales' barrister said his client would be making an application to use the sample.

The judge directed that certain material be provided including an affidavit from the doctor involved in the sperm extraction setting out what happened to the sample including its present location and storage.

The case will be mentioned again on Thursday.
