Sister 'siphons' $68,000 from ill brother

A woman has been charged after she allegedly siphoned more than $60,000 from her terminally ill brother's bank account in NSW's northeast.

Police say the 54-year-old woman was given access to a debit card to help pay the ongoing medical bills for her brother in March last year in Lismore.

When her brother and his daughter checked over bank statements, they allegedly discovered she had withdrawn $68,529 in cash from his account.

The woman was arrested in April this year and charged with dishonestly obtain a financial advantage by deception.

She is set to face Lismore Local Court on August 8.
