Sinking boat towed back to NSW shore

Three people, including a 10-year-old child, have been saved from a sinking boat off the coast of NSW.

A distress call was sent out on Monday morning after the vessel starting taking on water about two kilometres off the coast of Bass Point, near Wollongong, police say.

Water police responded and managed to tow the boat safely back to shore.

All the occupants had life jackets on and did not require an ambulance.
