Shane Fitzsimmons made redundant from dismantled Resilience NSW
Former New South Wales Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has been made redundant from his position in the public service.
After steering the state through the Black Summer bushfires, Fitzsimmons was appointed head of Resilience NSW.
However with that agency being dissolved as part of an overhaul of the state's disaster management in response to the latest flood crisis, his position has been abolished.

Fitzsimmons, NSW Australian of the Year in 2020, was initially stood down back in August when the future of Resilience NSW was first announced.
The agency was set up after the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires to coordinate emergency services and their disaster management and given a budget of $771 million.
Following the floods which devastated northern NSW earlier this year, an inquiry was launched to investigate the response to and recovery from the catastrophic event.
A report by former police commissioner Mick Fuller and chief scientist Mary O'Kane has been handed down after the inquiry and recommended Resilience NSW be shut down because it's ineffective.
