SES 'disappointed' by robberies

The SES are disappointed that at a time when they're helping thousands of residents in storm-ravaged NSW, five of their vehicles have been broken into.

SES workers in the Hunter region awoke on Friday to find chainsaws, power tools, helmets and even a car fridge had been stolen from their vehicles overnight.

Some of the equipment has SES branding on it, police say.

It comes as SES crews have been helping the NSW public following heavy rains and flooding.

And it's not over, with more wild weather predicted to hit northern NSW and southeast Queensland this weekend.

"We're just very disappointed," a spokeswoman told AAP on Friday.

"We have posted on social media at this stage and we've had a lot of support from the general public about it, but we're just incredibly disappointed that people are out there trying to help in the field and that's what's eventuated this."

It's the second robbery SES volunteers have had in the past week.

On Anzac Day, a home in Budgewoi on the Central Coast was robbed between midnight and 1am, when the owner - an SES volunteer - was working to help those affected by the NSW storms in Wyong.

Last week, four elderly Hunter region residents died as a result of the severe storms.
