Security guard assaulted at Sydney venue

A security guard has been assaulted by two men who were refused entry to a nightspot at a south Sydney hotel.

The pair was turned away from the door of the licensed venue on Pitt Street, Mortdale, shortly before 2am on Friday.

They returned a short time later and assaulted the security guard, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A search of the area using police dogs failed to find the men and police are appealing for witnesses.
