Rogerson 'anxious' to see case against him

Former NSW detective Roger Rogerson is "anxious" to be served the brief against him in the alleged murder of university student Jamie Gao, a court has heard.

Five months after he and Glen McNamara were arrested for the "execution-style" murder of Gao, Rogerson appeared briefly via video link at Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday.

His barrister George Thomas said a number of items were still outstanding in the brief against his client and they were "anxious" to get the matter moving.

This included fingerprint, DNA and crime scene evidence.

Until this is served, Mr Thomas said Rogerson would not make a decision about another bail application, following an unsuccessful attempt in August.

Crown prosecutor Chris Maxwell QC said they were also "anxious that this matter proceed quickly in the interest of justice".

Rogerson and McNamara have both been charged with the May 20 murder of Gao.

Police allege the former detectives shot the 20-year-old at a Padstow storage unit in Sydney's southwest over a drug deal.

Gao's body was found bobbing about three kilometres off Cronulla beach a week later, while 2.8 kilograms of "ice" was discovered in the back footwell of McNamara's car, the court has previously heard.

McNamara, who is also in custody, did not appear on Tuesday.

Magistrate Harriet Grahame adjourned both men's matters until November 25.
