Robert Xie trial jury deliberations enter its eleventh day

Jurors in the long-running murder trial of Robert Xie are set to enter their third week of deliberations to determine the Sydney man's fate.

Xie has pleaded not guilty to murdering five members of his wife Kathy Lin's family, whose bloodied bodies were discovered in their North Epping home in Sydney's northwest in July 2009.

After nine months of hearing evidence and 10 days of deliberations, the 12 jury members indicated on Friday that they were unable to reach a verdict.

Justice Elizabeth Fullerton urged the jury to remain calm and directed them to retire again to see if they could reach a unanimous verdict, before sending them home for the weekend at lunchtime on Friday after one of them fell ill.
