Robbers fire shot in Sydney store: police

A convenience store worker has escaped unharmed after a shot was fired at the shop's front counter during a robbery in Sydney's southwest.

Early investigations suggest two men armed with a shotgun and pistol entered the store in Bankstown early on Tuesday morning, police say.

One man allegedly fired a shot into the front counter as they walked in but the male employee was not hurt.

Police said the the two men, who were dressed in dark clothing, threatened the worker before running from the scene with a small amount of cash.
