Renee Geyer gets bond over racist rant

Australian singer Renee Geyer has been placed on a one-year good behaviour bond but has avoided a conviction over an abusive and intimidating racist rant that caused a hotel receptionist to cry and fear for her safety.

According to police documents, the soul singer called the lone female receptionist at the Sydney hotel a a "f***ing bitch" and a "Tongan bitch" after being told she would need to provide her vehicle registration to access the car park, in September 2015.

She also pushed a stationery holder and EFTPOS machine onto the floor.

The 63-year-old had been removed from the hotel, at Haymarket, by police the night before but returned and launched into her spray, documents show.

"You caused me and my group a lot of grief, I know who you are, I'm going to come back and get you," the soul singer and ARIA Hall of Fame member said, according to the facts.

"Calling the police was a joke, they're not going to charge me".

During the racist rant, Geyer's target hid in a corner behind the reception desk.

"The victim feared she was going to be harmed," court papers state.

Geyer pleaded guilty to a charge of intimidation last October over the 2015 tirade.

Magistrate Graeme Curran on Friday sentenced her to a 12-month good behaviour bond but a conviction won't be recorded.

After the brief appearance she fled with a female supporter.

It was not the first time Geyer has been in court.

In 2011, she avoided a criminal conviction for careless driving after two car crashes in her home city of Melbourne.
