UNLUCKY 13 - SHARK ATTACKS ON NSW NORTH COAST SINCE 2015

Oct 24 - 36-year-old surfer escapes with tooth-sized puncture bites to his upper thigh after attack between Suffolk Park and Broken Head beach near Byron Bay.

Oct 12 - 25-year-old man drives himself to hospital after being bitten while surfing at Sharpes Beach in Ballina.

Sept 26 - 17-year-old boy bitten on the upper leg by a great white while surfing at Ballina's Lighthouse Beach.

April 20 - 12-year-old boy bitten on foot by wobbegong at Main Beach Byron Bay.

2015

Nov 10 - Junior surf champion attacked by suspected bull shark at Ballina's Lighthouse Beach, suffering thigh wounds.

July 31 - 52-year-old former boxer fights off a great white by punching it in the face, after he was knocked off his board and bitten on the leg and hand at Evans Head.

July 3 - Surfer survives brush with shark after he's knocked off board at Lennox Head.

July 2 - 32-year-old bodyboarder mauled by four-metre great white at Ballina's Lighthouse Beach, suffering serious leg injuries.

June 24 - 71-year-old knocked from his surf ski by three-metre shark while paddling 200 metres offshore at Belongil Beach, near Byron Bay.

Feb 9 - Japanese surfer Tadashi Nakahara killed by a great white at Shelly Beach, near Ballina.

Feb 8 - Surfer suspected to be bitten by shark on the buttocks at Seven Mile Beach, near Ballina.

Jan 24 - Surfer flung a metre into air after board struck by shark at Flat Rocks near Ballina. He survives without being bitten.

Jan 19 - Female surfer's board snapped in two by shark at Watego Beach near Byron Bay. She is unscathed.
