Real estate agent cleared over bikie unit

A Sydney real estate agent who said he unwittingly leased a property used for criminal activity by a bikie gang has been found not guilty of lying to police.

Chris Polley, 24, had pleaded not guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice and two of hindering an investigation in relation to two 2016 police interviews about the Concord unit which was leased through the use of fraudulent application documents.

The District Court jury acquitted him on Monday of all charges.

The Concord address had caught the attention of the NSW gangs squads Strike Force Raptor, which began investigating the activities of the Burwood chapter of the Rebels in November 2015.

During a raid at the property in September, police found 13 firearms, ammunition, ballistic protection, an electronic stun device, methylamphetamine, MDMA, and items consistent with drug supply.

Mr Polley was accused of of providing false and misleading statements on two occasions during the investigation.

His lawyer told the jurors there was no dispute that the lease application material was fraudulent, however there was a question of whether his client was aware of this.
