Qld man arrested after punching elderly

A man who allegedly assaulted a number of people along a Brisbane bike path was nabbed by members of the public who held him till police arrived.

Police have been told the man assaulted at least four people along a bike path in Newmarket on Saturday afternoon, including an elderly woman who he allegedly punched in the face and a 73-year-old man who was taken to hospital suffering facial injuries.

Several members of the public detained the 45-year-old man around 3.20pm until police arrived and investigators have asked witnesses or others assaulted to come forward.
