Qaumi brothers to be sentenced for murder

Two Brothers 4 Life gang members are due to face a sentencing hearing next month over the contract murder of Sydney man Joseph Antoun.

Gang leader Farhad Qaumi, 34, and his brother Mumtaz Qaumi, 32, were found guilty on Tuesday of the 50-year-old's murder following the judge-alone trial.

The brothers were found to have recruited Witness L to murder Mr Antoun, who was shot four times in front of his wife when he opened the door of their Strathfield home on December 16, 2013.

The crown contended the brothers had accepted a contract to kill Mr Antoun from his former business partner Elias "Les" Elias, now in the Philippines.

Witnesses L and C were but two of a number of gang-related witnesses whose names were suppressed and who received discounted sentences and gave evidence against the brothers.

Justice Peter Hamill concluded the brothers were guilty of the murder and adjourned the matter for a sentence hearing in April.
