Pythons fight for right to conceive in far north NSW

A far-north NSW woman had ringside seats to an amazing show of nature when two randy pythons became locked in a battle for dominance outside her window last month.

Whian Whian resident Cheryl Judd, 50, watched as the pair of large pythons hanging from her gutter fought for mating rights next to her dining room, filming and photographing the impressive display.

As nine.com.au reported earlier this week, 'tis the season for snakes to lock spines as they have it out in their quest to get it on.

"Breeding season has definitely begun now, so this male to male combat may be a common sight throughout the coast over the next couple of months," Max, who works for Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers, wrote on Facebook.

He was referring a similar incident in Queensland, which, while fascinating to some, is too close to a living nightmare for others.

"We would burn everything and move to another country. No way would I sleep ever again," Brendan Mills commented on that video.

His sentiment was echoed by a woman on Ms Judd's Facebook page, who wrote: "Whilst I love nature and respect all living things, I would have been in Tasmania by now."
