Pub patrons tackle man who allegedly attempted to rob hotel in Sydney’s south
Police investigate after the armed robbery.
Pub goers and staff have bravely captured a man who tried to hold up a hotel in Sydney’s south overnight.
Two men allegedly smashed their way into the Mortdale Hotel around 10:30pm yesterday, armed with a shotgun wearing balaclavas.
Police say the men threatened staff and customers and demanded cash.
One man inside the hotel was tackled by customers and security guards, who held him until police arrived.
He was taken to hospital for minor injuries, where he remains under police guard.
The second man fled with the scene with a small amount of money, to a nearby car that was waiting for him.
He was later arrested by police, along with the driver of the car and a female passenger.
The woman was released without charge.
Police have charged two of the men, 22 and 25, with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
They were refused bail and will appear in court today.
