Police stand-off in Sydney

A man has barricaded himself in an apartment during a stand-off with police in Sydney's inner west.

A police operation had been ongoing in George Street, North Strathfield since about 4.45am on Saturday, a police spokeswoman said on Saturday evening.

The man, who police believe is alone in the unit, has reportedly thrown bricks at officers, with members of the public urged to avoid the area.
