Central Sydney road reopened after police operation

All roads have reopened in the central Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst following a police operation earlier today.

William Street was earlier closed in both directions between Palmer Street and Bourke Street with officers on the scene.

Emergency services were also on site.

It is understood police had to examine a suspicious package but the situation was later declared safe.
