Police investigate 'schoolboy upskirting' at prestigious boys' school

Police have been called in amid upskirting allegations at a northern Sydney Catholic school.

Fairfax Media reports that five year nine boys at the prestigious St Augustine's College at Brookvale used iPhones to photograph and film up the skirts of two teachers, before sharing the images with classmates over Facebook.

"Police are investigating an incident at a school on Sydney's northern beaches," a NSW Police spokesman confirmed, but he was unable to comment further.

Fairfax reported that a statement to staff from the college's head of school, Matthew Hutchison, described the boys' behaviour as "calculated".

The statement reportedly said the teachers had been "betrayed" by the boys, who had committed a criminal offence.

"This incident has caused a great deal of hurt for everyone involved and I imagine all of you are extremely angered with the ill-treatment of your colleagues," Mr Hutchison is quoted as telling staff in the statement.

"It is also a time for us to look deep within our community, to address a possible imbalance of power between female staff and boys, and to challenge the boys' moral compass in this over-sexualised world."

But the offenders had already been allowed to return to the all-boys school following suspensions and "re-enrolment" interviews, Fairfax reported.
