Injured NSW truck driver on the run

The injured driver of a stolen truck that smashed into a home in Sydney's west remains on the run.

The truck laden with an excavator hit road sign poles and dragged a parked car 30 metres, before slamming into the empty Kingswood home in the early hours of Thursday.

Blood was found in the cab of the truck and police have asked hospitals to keep an eye out for the injured driver, believed to be a male.

"Based on the carnage and the debris left, I'd say he would have sustained some injuries," a NSW police spokesman told reporters on Thursday.

The two-storey property on the Great Western Highway is at risk of collapsing.

Fire & Rescue NSW Inspector Kernin Lambert said it was lucky no one was home at the time of the incident.

"[The truck] has gone right into the house, demolishing part of the walls and causing some very severe structural damage," Inspt Lambert told ABC.

The truck, stolen from a Mount Pritchard business in the early hours of Tuesday, is being examined by forensics officers.
