Police assaulted in Sydney's west

Two police officers have been punched and kicked after asking a group of young people to move off a street in western Sydney.

Seven men were arrested after refusing to move on from where they were disrupting traffic in High Street, Penrith on Saturday night, police said.

Six of the men were charged, including a 25-year-old from Willmot and a 24-year-old from Bidwill who were both charged with assaulting police.

The rest were charged with other offences including failing to comply with move-on directions, resisting police and using offensive language.
