Photographer snaps 'Southern Lights' in night sky off NSW coast

A NSW photographer has captured the stunning majesty of the Aurora Australis in the night sky.

Kiama photographer Rudi Vavra spent a long time waiting for the perfect moment to snap his pictures of the beautiful lights, the Daily Mail has reported.

The lights are not normally seen so far north but have been previously snapped in action off the coast of Sydney.

"Sometimes we'll spend two nights a month just sitting out in the dark, waiting for the lights," Mr Vavra said.
