Paris Kamper death: Heartbroken mum's message to other parents

A heartbroken Sydney mother whose teenage daughter died while experimenting with alcohol has broken her silence to warn other parents of the risks of social media and excessive drinking.

Paris Kamper was a free-spirited 15-year-old girl who loved horses and dreamed of one day getting married.

On June 8, Paris spent the day riding with her older sister Olivia at the family's Kenthurst property.

While Olivia watched television on that otherwise ordinary Friday night, Paris went outside to play with their dogs.

"I didn't hear from her for a while so I went looking for her," Olivia said.

"Then we found her in the paddock. She was lifeless."

Paris was an inquisitive girl and like many her age, a little innocent.

She had discovered a recipe online: vodka, sweetened with a common household ingredient.  

Over the course of an hour, Paris drank at least 500ml of the vodka mix.

She suffered a massive heart attack and collapsed.

Paris was revived by paramedics and rushed to the Children's Hospital at Westmead, but was left brain dead.

Her mother Sandy was at her daughter's bedside when Paris' life support was switched off three days later.

"They let me stay with her another night, then they turned the machines off," Mrs Kamper told me, in her first interview since the tragedy.

"It was a forever decision."

It seems Instagram can't or won't remove irresponsible messages from their platform, so the voice of a mum might have to suffice.

Mrs Kamper wants her daughter's death to be more than just a sad story.

"Our children are under assault," Mrs Kamper said.

"They are being swamped by social media, seeing things they shouldn't see.

"Often what they see on there is louder than your voice as a parent."

Mrs Kamper is still at a loss to why her daughter kept the cocktail a secret.

"She told me everything, everything," Mrs Kamper said.

"I don't know why she didn't tell me this.

"I don't think she thought it was that bad or dangerous, I don't think she thought too much about it."

Mrs Kamper has created a garden to remember Paris in the paddock where she collapsed.

"She was in trouble and this big angel with beautiful wings came down and said 'I'm taking you'," she said.
