Panthers leagues club fire extinguished

A minor fire at the Penrith Panthers' Leagues Club which caused more than 1000 people to be evacuated from the building has been extinguished.

The evacuation was ordered after a security guard noticed smoke on the third level of the large building on Sunday night.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to track the smoke's source to a small fire in a lower laundry.

"It was quite easily extinguished," NSW Fire and Rescue Superintendent Paul Johnson told AAP.
