A 19-year-old man pulled over by NSW police for erratic driving was travelling at almost 100 kilometres an hour over the speed limit, police say.

Officers pulled the man's car over on the Pacific Highway at Arrawarra, north of Coffs Harbour, on Thursday afternoon.

It's alleged the car was clocked doing 186km/h in a 110km/h zone and that the P-plate driver was restricted to a top speed of 90km/h.

After a breath test allegedly returned a positive result, the man was arrested and taken to Woolgoolga Police Station.

His licence has been suspended and he is due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on November 17 to face drink-driving and speeding charges.
