Origin fans urged to keep rivalry friendly

As the NSW Blues set to face off against the Queensland Maroons in the final game of the State of Origin series, police are reminding fans to keep the rivalry on the field.

With thousands of footy fans heading to ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night, there will be a large police presence in place.

"We understand there's always a friendly amount of rivalry amongst fans at the State of Origin, but I urge all spectators to keep it safe and recognise the true spirit of the game," Assistant Commissioner Frank Mennilli said.

He said anyone caught causing trouble during the match will be removed from the crowd and may well face further police action.

Spectators can use their game ticket to get free travel on public transport services to and from Sydney Olympic Park.
