After the successful productions of Carmen and Puccini's Turandot in the past two years, Handa Opera is set to dazzle audiences on Sydney Harbour for another three years.

The Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall on Thursday announced the state government will continue to fund the "spectacular" event.

"(It's) become revered as one of the word's greatest outdoor operas, with more than 57,000 domestic and international overnight visitors travelling to Sydney to enjoy this spectacular event since 2012," Minister Marshall said.

Presented by Opera Australia, the large-scale productions feature breathtaking sets and vibrant costumes on a bespoke, floating stage.

Handa's next harbour production will be Puccini's La Boheme, which opens next March for a month.
