Obeid seeks overturning of corrupt finding

The denial of procedural fairness to former NSW minister Eddie Obeid and his son Moses should lead to the overturning of adverse findings against them, says their barrister.

In the NSW Supreme Court on Wednesday, Robert Newlinds SC said it doesn't matter if the failure to disclose powerful evidence to his clients was an accident - "what matters is that it happened".

The Obeid family has taken civil action against the Independent Commission Against Corruption and various ICAC officers claiming it was denied procedural fairness in an inquiry that found Eddie Obeid acted corruptly in relation to the granting of a coal exploration licence.
