Eddie Obeid counts down days to court appearance

While most are counting down the days to Christmas, Eddie Obeid is looking forward to his day in court to fight allegations of corruption.
The disgraced NSW Labor powerbroker is facing prosecution for alleged misconduct in public office over the extension of leases for family-owned businesses in Sydney's Circular Quay.
The former minister has been at the centre of several probes and found corrupt by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) on a number of occasions.
He was on Thursday served with a court attendance notice in relation to ICAC's Operation Cyrus, which was completed in June.
Obeid's former ministerial ally, fellow ex-Labor MP Ian Macdonald, is also being prosecuted for misconduct in public office over his handling of a lucrative mining licence at Doyles Creek in the Hunter Valley.
Both are due to face a Sydney court on December 18.
"I'm looking forward to telling the evidence we have," a defiant Obeid told reporters outside his mansion in Sydney's Hunters Hill on Thursday.
"I'm innocent in every instance."
