NSW woman narrowly missed by shotgun blast

A NSW woman has narrowly escaped being hit by a shotgun blast following a home invasion in the state's Hunter region.

Three masked men burst into a home in Weston about 10.30pm on Monday brandishing a shotgun and machete before threatening the two residents.

They demanded money from a 69-year-old man, threatened a 52-year-old woman and assaulted both residents during the ordeal, NSW Police said on Tuesday.

"After leaving the premises with a small amount of cash, the men discharged the shotgun into the front door, narrowly missing the female resident," a spokesperson said in a statement.

The intruders fled in a small silver or dark coloured hatchback.
