NSW terror accused told to enter plea

The man accused of supplying the gun used to murder Sydney police accountant Curtis Cheng has been told he must enter a plea when he next returns to court.

Talal Alameddine, 22, did not face Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, but his lawyer Stephen Zahr was told to have a plea ready by April 7.

His co-accused Mustafa Dirani, 22, also did not appear for the brief hearing.

Prosecutors told the court that briefs of evidence, which include CCTV and listening device material, are expected to be finalised by March 30.

Outside court, Mr Zahr would not indicate how Alameddine intended to plead, saying no decision would be made until they had seen the brief.

Alameddine, from Merrylands, is accused of supplying a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver to Raban Alou on October 2 last year and it's alleged 15-year-old Farhad Jabar used that revolver to murder Mr Cheng the same day.

Jabar was fatally shot by police at the Parramatta police headquarters.

As well as additional firearm charges, Alameddine is accused of damaging and secreting a mobile handset and SIM card to hinder the discovery of evidence concerning a serious offence allegedly committed by Alou and Jabar.

Dirani is accused of taking part in the supply of the revolver to Alou, as well as knowingly participating in a criminal group being a member of a terrorist organisation.

The third co-accused, 18-year-old Alou, who faced Central Local Court on Wednesday, is also expected to face Parramatta Local Court by videolink on April 7.

Should any of the trio enter not-guilty pleas they will be expected to return to court for a committal hearing set for June 24.
