A Sydney police officer is due to face court accused of perverting the course of justice after being stopped for a random breath test.

Police say the off-duty sergeant was stopped for a breath test on the Pacific Highway at North Sydney on January 8, but allegedly left the scene without being tested.

Following an investigation, the female officer was given a notice to attend the Downing Centre Local Court on August 18 for the charge of perverting the course of justice.
