NSW police officer charged with assault of drunk driver

A NSW police officer accused of assaulting a drunk driver has been charged.
The constable allegedly assaulted a 56-year-old man at Miranda police station, in Sydney's south, last December after he was arrested for high-range drink driving, police say.
The male officer was on Monday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and is due to face Sutherland Local Court in September.
